Executive Director
Susan Fochs Miss Door County 2017 “The Miss America Opportunity is such a special and unique program to help young women become better, more empowered versions of themselves, while serving their community, and earning valuable college scholarships. In those regards, the Miss Door County Scholarship Program is second to none. The year of serving as Miss Door County or Miss Door County’s Teen is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and it is an honor to work with this committee to provide this opportunity and thousands of dollars in college scholarships to Door County women for years to come.” |
Committee Member
Gracen Spritka Miss Door County's Teen 2016 Miss Door County 2020/2021 "The Miss American Opportunity prides itself on the empowerment of women in its efforts to promote and support their well-being holistically. I credit the Miss America Opportunity, and specifically the Miss Door County Organization, with providing me a foundation for building my confidence, professionalism, and passion for community connection. Having been involved in the Miss Door County Program first as a princess in the Little Sister program, then as both a Teen and Miss titleholder, I can say with honesty and pride that this organization has truly shaped who I've become. I volunteer on the Miss Door County committee because I remember how impactful the mentorship committee members and former titleholders was for me when I was competing, and I love having the opportunity to act as that cheerleader and support person for the contestants and titleholders who have come after me." |
'Door County Cherry Blossom' Program Coordinator
Brea Spritka "I have chosen to volunteer for the program to give back to the community and help develop these meaningful connections between the Little Sister Program and the candidates. I have been both a Little Sister myself and a sibling to two Miss Door County's." |
Digital Media Coordinator + Talent Prep
Casey Nelson Owner: Fire & Flame Creative "I volunteer because meeting the women I have met through the Miss America Opportunity have proven time-and-time again how incredible they are. They identify huge goals and nothing will stop them from achieving them. I love being a part of their journeys in helping to capture their year of service in a beautiful way and help promote the organization to more women through photo and video work." |
Pageant Choreographer
Whitney Williams Miss Arkansas 2021 "My love for the Miss America Organization started when a close friend of mine became Miss Texas. She loved promoting her community service initiative and often talked about the amount of scholarship money that she was able to obtain through her years competing. I went on to become Miss Arkansas 2021 and won a talent award at Miss America. My love of dance and twirling lead to me choreographing my own routines to some of my favorite songs throughout the years. I am so excited to give back to this organization as the choreographer for Miss Door County!" |
Backstage Help + Local Pageant Preparations
Katie (Sawyer) Helscher Miss Door County 2009 "I volunteer for Miss Door County because the growth that I have experienced as a contestant and titleholder has impacted both my personal and professional life in profound ways. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of this organization!" |
Stage Manager + Lighting Director
Josh Lardinois "Having supported the Miss Door County Organization and being a small part of a fantastic endeavor for over 20 years, it's been an honor to see the accomplishments and maturation of the women that were a part of the program - 5, 10, and 15 years ago - and what they've done on to accomplish in their lives. The organization's ability to evolve and the continual engagement of the committee members and the community (both businesses and individuals alike), demonstrates that the organization is as needed and its mission as critical in 2024 as it was at its founding." |
Sound and Music Director
Michael Raye "My connection with the Miss Door County Program began in year 2, and I've been involved every year since, assisting with music and sound production. Throughout those years, I've seen so many young women participate, and whether they won the crown or not, they've moved on with more confidence and focus. It's inspiring!" |
